How do you want to feel?
New Moon + Eclipse on August 12th
August 12th is the new moon, and it lands right on the first of two eclipses this month. Which means this is not a quiet and dreamy new moon; instead, it asks you to get clear on what hasn’t been spelled out in your life.
Eclipse season is when things end. Sharply, sometimes suddenly.
The stuff that has been weighing you down, the thing that no longer belongs, the situations you’ve been tolerating longer than you should have, eclipse season hits the big red release button on all of it.
And when a new moon falls inside that release? You get to decide what comes next. You get to set an intention inside the opening.
But here’s the thing about this particular new moon: it’s not asking you what you want. It’s asking you how you want to feel.
Not: I want a million dollars. Not: I want a new relationship. But: how do I want to feel in my life? What does that feel like in my body?
Joy. Peace. Clarity. Love. Freedom. Safety. Whatever your word is, that's your intention this moon. And the total solar eclipse takes care of the rest.
Anything that stands between you and that feeling? It goes.
That's the deal eclipse season makes with us.
In my own life right now, I’ve been making clear decisions. Things I was leaving in gray areas, sometimes out of avoidance and sometimes just not realizing I wasn’t clear, I’m not leaving them there anymore. For people who had different ideas about what was happening in relation to me, I’ve made direct statements that don’t leave room for confusion or questioning.
I’m taking back the reins of my life and trusting that when I do that, when I stop hedging, the right things fall into place. The dominoes fall where they need to, and people get the memo and respond accordingly.
It isn’t comfortable. But it’s always right. And, honestly, it’s the kinder thing to do, even when it hurts.
This moon is asking you to do the same. Not the big dramatic gesture. Just the clear, honest one, said with tact and care. The boundary you’ve been putting off. The yes you need to stop saying to the thing that costs you. The no that would give you your life back.
Say it out loud. Write it down. Let the eclipse do the rest.
Sending strength,
Licia

Your New Moon Writing Prompt
Start with this question and write for ten minutes without stopping:
How do I want to feel in my life right now?
Write every feeling that comes up. Don’t edit. Don’t explain. Just get them down.
Then flip the page and write this: What is standing between me and feeling that way?
Be honest. Be specific. Name the thing, the person, the habit, the pattern.
That’s your eclipse material. That’s what this moon came to clear.
